Holy Micro! LLC Unveils “Open-Range” Calibration at Sun ‘n Fun; Solves Real-World Flap Drift Issues for GA Aircraft
Holy Micro! LLC is arriving at the Sun ‘n Fun Aerospace Expo with a major software evolution for its Absolute AoA system. Addressing a common mechanical reality in general aviation, the new update introduces “Open-Range” Calibration, allowing pilots and installers to fine-tune flap sensing ranges to match the unique physical characteristics of their specific airframe. Attendees can experience this new software at Hangar B, Booth B-27&28.
Adaptability for the Real World
Traditional Angle-of-Attack (AoA) systems often rely on rigid, factory-set flap positions. However, age, cable stretch, and thermal expansion can cause a flap’s physical position to drift over time, leading to inaccurate stall warnings.
“Airplanes aren’t perfect—cables stretch, linkages wear, and flaps drift,” said Kunnumpurath, Founder of Holy Micro! LLC. “I designed the Absolute AoA to be as adaptable as a real pilot. Our ‘Open-Range’ calibration lets you fine-tune your sensor to your specific airframe, ensuring your stall warnings are pinpoint accurate, whether you’re flying a brand-new build or a seasoned classic.”
This real-world flexibility is winning over veteran installers. William Thacker of Thacker Aviation (Illinois), who has completed three Absolute AoA installations, hailed the update as a significant step forward. Thacker’s reaction was immediate: “That is awesome!” To showcase the system’s performance, Thacker plans to fly one of his Absolute AoA-equipped aircraft to Sun ‘n Fun for in-flight filming and hands-on demonstrations.
Proven Success and Fleet Transition
The release of this software comes as Holy Micro! sees an explosion in adoption across the industry. The technology is increasingly being chosen over legacy systems. Recently, at an owner’s request, Clemens Aviation in Wichita, KS, removed an Alpha Systems AoA from a Cessna 441 Conquest to install the Absolute AoA—a move that underscores the market’s growing confidence in Holy Micro!’s superior pressure-ratio technology.
“I have hundreds of installations currently underway covering almost all leading models of GA aircraft,” Kunnumpurath noted. “In Florida alone, we have major installs in progress, including an A36 Bonanza at Sarasota Avionics and a PA28R Arrow at Palm Beach Avionics. Our reach covers the full Cessna spectrum as well—the Absolute AoA is already installed on everything from the C172 to the C441 Conquest.”
Engineering Integrity: The “Gap Rule”
To ensure the highest level of safety, the new software includes “Guardrail Logic.” The system allows users to edit flap ranges but strictly enforces a 1cm “No-Man’s-Land” between settings. This prevents data overlap and ensures the CPU never encounters ambiguous configuration data. If a sensed position falls into this gap, the system automatically defaults to its most conservative “Clean” (Flaps 0) logic, ensuring a stall warning is never delayed.
Massive Sun ‘n Fun Savings
Holy Micro! is dismantling the “Brand Tax” on safety. Attendees can take advantage of a massive $1,200 discount on the SkyVoice + Absolute AoA combo purchase at the show. Individually, the SkyVoice Alert 500 and SkyVoice Glassy Guide 400 is offered at a special price of just $1,300.
