Holy Micro! LLC Receives FAA NORSEE Production Approval for the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System

Holy Micro! LLC has received FAA Non-Required Safety Enhancing Equipment (NORSEE) Production Approval for its Absolute AoA Heated Probe System (Part Number: AOA-HP-01).

Granted by the FAA’s Central Certification Branch on June 23, 2026, the approval authorizes Holy Micro! LLC to manufacture the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System under 14 CFR 21.8(d) in accordance with FAA Policy PS-AIR-21.8-1602. The system is approved as a Supplementary Angle of Attack and Stall Warning System.

What is NORSEE?

NORSEE (Non-Required Safety Enhancing Equipment) is an FAA approval pathway for equipment that enhances safety while supplementing required aircraft systems. It allows manufacturers to produce qualifying equipment under an FAA-accepted quality system without requiring a Technical Standard Order (TSO) authorization.

For the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System, the FAA approval authorizes Holy Micro! LLC to manufacture the system under its approved quality system in accordance with the applicable NORSEE policy.

Why a Heated Probe?

Probe heating is a common feature used in aviation to help reduce ice accumulation on sensing probes during operation in applicable environmental conditions.

The heated probe has been incorporated into the Absolute AoA system to provide an FAA-approved configuration for operators who require probe heating as part of their Angle of Attack system.

What Does the Approval Cover?

The FAA approval authorizes the production of the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System.

  • Production Approval: Holy Micro! LLC is authorized to manufacture the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System under the NORSEE program.
  • Authorized Function: Supplementary Angle of Attack and Stall Warning System.
  • Installation: Installation must be accomplished either as a minor alteration or major alteration substantiated by FAA approved data such as field approval, follow on STC or other form of FAA approved installation data.
  • Electrical Requirements: Because the heated probe assembly consumes additional electrical power, some aircraft may not have sufficient reserve power to support this added load. Installers should be cautioned to adhere to the electrical load testing requirements outlined in your installation manual.

As with all NORSEE equipment, the Absolute AoA Heated Probe System provides supplementary information to assist the pilot and does not replace required aircraft equipment. NORSEE Production Approval does not constitute Installation Approval, Parts Manufacturer Approval (PMA), or Technical Standard Order Authorization (TSOA).
