Next-Gen AoA and Enhanced AGL Altimeters Elevate All-Phase Flight Safety

For years, Angle of Attack (AoA) systems have served primarily as basic stall warnings, leaving many pilots questioning their value amid the hassle of installation and limited utility. But what if an AoA system could transcend alarms to deliver precise, actionable data throughout every phase of flight—from takeoff and climb to cruise, approach, and landing?

Holy Micro! LLC (holymicro.com), creators of the SkyVoice Alert 500 and SkyVoice Glassy Guide 400, introduces the FAA-certified Absolute AoA System, a NewGen solution addressing FAA’s SAIB 2024-07, designed to provide accurate Angle of Attack (AoA) for all phases of flight. Unlike traditional single-sensor differential pressure systems that are limited to near-stall warnings, this advanced system provides reliable AoA information for climbing, cruising, & landing, unaffected by density altitude, or weight/loading. Fly Absolute AoA for all your V speeds including BestGlide/Best Range (L/Dmax) & VEC.

This innovative & fully independent patent pending system utilizes many sensors to calculate and calibrate normalized pressure ratio, an accurate method proven through extensive studies & flight tests to maintain precision across all phases of flight. Additionally, our cutting-edge LiDAR technology automatically detects & adjusts for flap position & landing configuration. Whether you’re flying at high or low altitudes or speeds or loading, the Absolute AoA System delivers consistent, reliable AoA data-regardless of conditions.

The Absolute AoA System is engineered for simplicity and reliability, AoA probe is ruggedly built using aircraft-grade 6061 aluminum, designed for seamless installation beneath the wing’s inspection plate. Installation is streamlined, offering a wireless WiFi/Bluetooth, no long tubes and minimal wiring or a wired version, typically completed in 3–4 hours using existing inspection panels. Flexible power options allow the system to draw power from wing lights or navigation lights, reducing installation time. For cockpit integration, pilots can choose between a 2.8-inch panel mount & dash mount touch displays and bar-style touch displays for customizable visual feedback. A dedicated 6.5-inch Human-Machine Interface (HMI) simplifies setup and calibration, making the system intuitive and efficient.

Incorporating pilot feedback, Holy Micro has enhanced the Absolute AoA with user-focused features. The easy one-point calibration process— This dramatically simplifies setting your Absolute Angle of Attack (AoA). While cruising, press Start, and when you hear the stall warning, press Stop. Get precision AoA data in 3 minutes, with zero hassle. The system includes 400 Hz and 1600 Hz frequencies and pulse rates to clearly indicate different phases of flight, such as approach and critical AOA warnings, similar to Navy and Air Force standards. A prominent Lift Reserve Display offers intuitive, immediate visual feedback on the aerodynamic margin above stall, boosting pilot confidence during high-workload phases. Over-the-Air (OTA) updates ensure seamless access to future software enhancements, keeping the system current with the latest features and firmware.

Solution for Flap Position Sensing: The New AoA Flap Scanner Pod

To address mounting challenges, particularly for twin-engine and complex-wing aircraft, Holy Micro introduces the optional Flap Scanner Pod, a separate sensor housing crafted from aircraft-quality aluminum that can be mounted away from the main AOA probe. This pod is specifically designed to overcome placement issues on complex wing configurations and is available as an add-on purchase.

Enhanced SkyVoice Systems: Smarter Alerts, Stronger Connectivity

Holy Micro announced significant upgrades to its existing SkyVoice product line — the SkyVoice Alert 500 and SkyVoice Glassy Guide 400 — bringing improved connectivity, user control, and reminders.

SkyVoice Alert 500 – Smarter Altimeter with Intelligent Algorithms

It is a LiDAR AGL Altimeter for General Aviation Aircraft, with next-generation algorithms and includes customizable reminders, Bluetooth connectivity, and a proximity-based gear warning system for improved safety during takeoff and landing.

In its Advanced Mode, the system added more reminders, pilots can set additional reminders in AGL, MSL, and Run-Time categories; enhanced Bluetooth connectivity for seamless smartphone-like wireless pairing; and direct headset integration. Combined with an improved software algorithm featuring signal noise suppression and smoothing, these upgrades ensure more accurate altitude readings and timely alerts.

Holy Micro also announced the upcoming release of a new 1000-ft range version of the SkyVoice Alert system.

SkyVoice Glassy Guide 400 – RADAR based Altimeter for Amphibians

The SkyVoice Glassy Guide 400 is a RADAR-based Takeoff and Landing Height Announcer built specifically for seaplanes and amphibious aircraft. It provides accurate AGL readings up to 400 ft, even over glassy water, where depth perception is most difficult.

In its Advanced Mode, the Glassy Guide 400 adds more reminders in AGL, MSL, and Run-Time, along with enhanced smartphone like Bluetooth pairing, giving pilots additional options for receiving altitude callouts and reminders.
